where have all the bloggers gone?

imageIn this age of Facebook and Twitter, it seems that the art of blogging has lost footing for many. It’s easier to post a single line, “here’s my update”, than to sit and draft an entire blog post. You don’t have to think through it as much or put as much effort in to what you want to say.

I’m guilty of turning to Facebook both for providing as well as obtaining quick updates on friends. The difference I find, however, is in the level of intimacy with the reader. While social networks allow you to update others on what you’re doing, seldom do they delve in to the thoughts happening in the background. Although I feel like I’m able to keep up to date with friends and family (which I appreciate), I don’t hear the whole story.

I came across an article talking about how the golden age if blogging may be over. It’s a sad thing, but easy to see how blogging has been replaced by social networks. It’s the wave of the, well, current. Not really the future, as I’m sure it’s on it’s way out soon. Easily replaced by the next latest and greatest invent. Perhaps surgically embedded chips that allow for instant texting and Facebook access.

The point being, I miss reading friends blogs. It’s no substitute for a great cup of coffee together, but it does fill the gap between cups. So, I ask you all… bring the blogging back! Let’s rekindle this flame together. Deal?
