An Amazing Year

It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a year since this chapter of our life began… and Ben & I both have been quite remiss about posting frequently. It’s simply incredible how much time can be taken up by one little person. And it seems, the smaller they are, the more time they consume. But we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every moment and have been quite happy to focus our time on real life interactions with C.

It’s incredible how much a baby grows in the first year… and, truly, how quickly it flies by. Here are a few highlights from the past year:

– Nov 15, 2009 8:46am – our little girl joined us after just 5 1/2 hours of labor.

– December 2009 – 6 weeks old – First smiles! C delights us with a toothless grin.

– March 2010 – 4 1/2 months old – Rolling over!

– April 2010 – Sitting up

– June 2010 – Pulling up!

– July 2010 – Crawling

– August 2010 – sleeping through the night… (finally) yay!

– September 2010 – First sign! C signs “milk” while nursing.

– October 2010 – First word! C says “baby”. More signs follow over the next few weeks, including “eat”, “brush teeth”, “dog”, “zipper”, and “sleep”. She also starts talking more – and masters saying “ball” and “doggie”. She’s started walking with a walker – it won’t be long until she’s doing it on her own!

As we approach the end of C’s first year, we’re excited to see what the future holds for us all. She’s already showing quite a personality – determined, introspective, independent and happy. She loves doing things by herself and gets frustrated if you try to help her too much. She never really let us feed her – she was much happier trying to use a spoon by herself. Recently, she’s started using a fork, too! She seems happier each time she gains a little more independence. I can’t wait to see how she changes after she learns to walk!

This is a rather short update considering how long it’s been since the last post, but you can check out more updates at C’s website here. Enjoy!
