Resolutions

I haven’t been one for new year resolutions lately. Not that I don’t set goals or have things I want to accomplish, I’ve just been too zapped to organize them in to a cohesive thought and put them down on paper. A recent post from my sister in law regarding resolutions motivated me to put something down that I can reflect on later in the year…

So without further ado, here are my 2010 resolutions.

I resolve to:

1. Be less critical of myself (and others). I’m not perfect. I will make mistakes. I will screw up. I will say the wrong thing. So will you. The sooner we come to terms with this and move on, the sooner we can laugh about said mistakes over a glass of wine.

2. Embrace my organizing bug. I love it. So what if my dvds are alphabetical and my cookbooks sorted by cuisine – I can find things quickly and it puts my mind at ease. I always know where to put something back, and (hopefully) can find it again easily.

3. Give away / get rid of things that have past their prime or are no longer useful to us. Example – I’ve held on to non-functional pens & pencils for years thinking that some day I would purchase replacement ink/lead and bring them back to life. Years. Who was I kidding? Be gone non-working pens!!

4. Improve my verbal filter. Sometimes things bypass my filter and just come out. Sometimes they just aren’t well thought out statements – good intentions gone bad sort of thing. Sometimes I’m just socially inept with my conversation skills. Sometimes people don’t want to hear me ramble. I resolve to try to improve my filter a little more and recognize those cues that tell me when it’s time to shut up.

That’s it for now… It’s a pretty short list, but is still rather ambitious.

Oooh! I love it! I love how you said that you will embrace your organizing bug. It’s funny how sometimes we fight our personalities instead of accepting and embracing them like we should.

I don’t think that you ramble… but then again, I know that I do too, so maybe I don’t realize it because I am the same…. and here I go rambling on again!
