10 Weeks Old

Well, the big day came and went without a hitch. Our little girl joined the world with a bang – 5 1/2 hours of labor (including 30 minutes spent “blowing through” contractions to wait for the doctor so I could push!!). The doctor arrived – and four contractions later, C was here! A healthy 7 lbs 8 oz, 19 3/4 inches long and she arrived with a loud cry and announced her presence to the world.

We spent a few days in the hospital before venturing home to fill our new role as parents. We’ve had lots of visitors and help the first few weeks, which has been fantastic. We’ve also had some time to ourselves and had the chance to enjoy our new little family – moments I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Now here we are… 10 weeks in to this grand adventure called parenthood. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, but for every down, there has definitely been an up.

We’ve seen some amazing changes in our little girl already. From witnessing her laugh in her sleep to smiling at us, they have all melted our hearts. It’s all going by so quickly, and I know details will soon grow fuzzy in our sleep deprived minds, so I’m using my blog as a forum to record some of the events we’ve seen so far.

5 weeks old – Dec 18th – we see C’s first responsive smile! Ben & I sat with her, joking and laughing, and she joined in with a big grin! We tested it out a few times more – laughing and smiling at her, only to see a toothless grin smiling back at us.

6 weeks old – C meets her Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Laura, Uncle Roger and cousins (Amy, Emma & Dale).

C was fascinated by Amy – she had her first lengthy “conversation” with her and tracked her intently whenever Amy was around. This was also the first time C ever “tracked” anyone!

C also met the rest of the clan on 12-26-09.

That’s all I can think of right now – I may start a page to track it all… an electronic baby book of sorts :)

For now, I’ll Ieave you with a few of my favorite photos. Enjoy!

What a great visit! Amy was quite taken with Claire too. :)
