Busy times

I never ceases to fail – my greatest blogging ideas strike me while I’m in the car, shower or elsewhere that taking notes is just not feasible. Alas, when I finally do sit down to write, all of my previous thoughts of clever titles, interesting topics and anticdotes escape me. So, you get what you get today…

It’s hard to believe it’s fall already. The leaves haven’t quite turned yet, but we’ve seen a few accumulate on our lawn. By halloween, the lawn will be covered.

Work is plugging along for both Ben & me. I’ve taken on some additional responsibilities as our workplace transitions and morphs into a new state. This includes adding a few employees to my plate. We’ll see how it all plays out in the next few months – my busiest time is January to April (when tax and audit season hit simultaneously), and that’s really when I need the extra help.

Ben & I have been trying to be more diligent about hitting the gym in the mornings. It’s encouraging to see results – we’ve added more weight training to the routine, which seems to be working! I feel more toned and stronger.

Also, I’ve been transitioning my bath products over to the more natural variety – here’s what I’m using so far (see last post for more info on the scoring system):

Shampoo: Burt’s Bees Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Shampoo (score: 1) – it smells yummy and works really well.

Soap: Dr. Bronner’s Magic Peppermint Soap (score: 2) – Also smells really good! Ben thinks it’s a little drying, but I haven’t had any issues.

Deodorant: Crystal Body Deodorant Roll-On (score: 0) – I’ve actually been using this one for a while… I bought the stick version of it in high school (and haven’t even come close to using it all up), but switched to the roller earlier this year. Works great at eliminating odor, but you have to apply to clean skin.

Face wash: Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash (score 1) – haven’t been using this long enough to really say if it’s any better than the Neutrogena Acne Wash Oil-Free (score: 5) I’ve used for years, but so far it’s no worse either.

Acne treatment: Desert Essence 100% Pure Australian Tea Tree Oil (score 0) – another product I’ve used off and on for a while. Works well, but definitely not a miracle product (probably because none exist!). I like the fact that it’s a natural alternative to harsh chemicals.

That’s it for now… hope you all are doing well and looking forward to fall!
