i’m in shock

it seems that the cpa board has pulled it’s act together and is releasing exam scores much MUCH earlier than ever before… this time I received my score a short 3 weeks after taking the test, and am very pleased and very shocked with the results. An 87!!!!!! far better than I could have ever hoped for.

I’m seriously in shock right now.

short update

Not too much happening here lately… I’ve begun studying for the next round of the cpa exam, and am slowly chipping away at the material. I know, it seems ridiculous to study for 2 months straight, but this is essentially the same as taking an 8 week course with a HUGE final at the end… thinking back to college… semesters were 15 weeks and this is half that amount of time! Besides, in college you always had the option of retaking any classes you didn’t pass with an unlimited time frame. My 18 month window to finish all parts ends Feb 2008, so I need to get moving on it!! It’s a little numbing (or maybe I’m just still numb from the last test), but I’ll make it through it soon. Just grin & bear it, right?

Ben is heading to Mt. Whitney this weekend with his brother. It should be a great weekend for them – I opted to take the time for studying rather than joining in the hike, besides, I need to get back to the gym before I can conquer a mountain – and the serious gym thing will not happen until the serious cpa thing is over (it’s all a big cycle). Next summer will be a much better time for me – lots of camping, hiking & relaxing. Perhaps even more blogging.

Heading to bed early(er) tonight – the late nights and early mornings have been killing me at work. I’m definitely not my best when functioning on less than 8 hours of sleep.

Take care & I’ll talk to you soon!

Wedding Favorites

Well, I’ve gone through the photos on my flickr account in an attempt to sort out the (literally) thousands of wedding photos into a more manageable set. It’s awesome to have so many photos, but makes it difficult to decide what’s post worthy and what just needs to be archived…

I’ve managed to pare down my favorites to approx 100, linked through flickr here. Hope you enjoy! In the meantime, I’ve included a few as a preview…

a slight reprieve

So the third part of my cpa test was this past Thursday – leaving me with a slight reprieve from studying this weekend – only to dive right back into it come next week (after Monday, of course). Ben & I met up with some friends at Tahoe Joe’s on Thursday night for drinks & dinner, the furthered the celebrating at a sabbatical party for a few of our friends in Folsom last night. It feels good to be done with this test. The test was incredibly difficult, and took me the full 4 hours to complete (I finished with a minute and 27 seconds left on the clock). I’m not extremely confident about the results – it wasn’t a cake walk by any means, and I’m sad to say that this one could probably go either way. I find out the results in six weeks. Until then, I assume I passed and move on to the next section – Regulation (taxes and whatnot).

Lately the overkill of “accounting” has had me in a bit of a rut. I’ve been questioning my chosen career path, wondering if this stuff is really for me. In reality, I enjoy what I do and the theory behind it all, but too many journal entries on the brain can really zap that love for numbers out of a person, ya know?

Ben & I had talked about going out of town this weekend and getting away from it all… as the weekend approached, and no plans were made, we realized that staying at home and just being lazy sounded like a far better option. We haven’t had many relaxing weekends at home lately. They’ve either been on the go or filled with studying.

I have so many things I want to do when this last test is over – I still need to make a wedding photo album, edit our wedding video, upload my archive of pics onto my new flickr account, finish working at the condo and get it into a salable condition, the list continues. I can’t wait to be done… it’s so close I can taste it!
